my angelic DD?

Oh, I miss the days when Julie was just a little girl. Look at the picture below isn’t she cute? As she said she’s a wonderful, loving, angelic child. She sure is minus the angelic, well, most of the time she is. I really miss buying baby’s toys. One of her favorite toys is the kids wagons, she loves when I pull her around the neighborhood. That was really fun, but once she got bigger and heavier I stopped and bought her scooter.

The 6th folder is titled “julie’s fotos” and the picture below is the 6th photo in the folder. I think this photo was taken a week after she got her early Christmas present the 1994 mint condition 40th anniversary Fender Stratocaster. She just got home from school and I asked her to play with her electric guitar, at first she gave me a hard time but as we all know mum always wins so she got no choice. wink*

Here are the rules:
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
3. Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes with the picture.

DD wearing the brace

Remember the Idiopathic Scoliosis I posted last July?

Here is my DD wearing the brace. This is not comfortable at all, she complains a lot but she got no choice.

Idiopathic Scoliosis

Sad to say she has it. And we are lucky that we have notice early enough to correct and stop for having a spinal fusion surgery when she gets old. Last Monday we took her for brace measurement and the orthopedic made a mold of her body for the brace. I want to take a picture of her while orthopedist wrapping her body like mummy but she didn’t want me to. She will be wearing the brace during night time. I’m sure it will be uncomfortable and she will not be happy wearing it but she got no choice. You know, I kept asking myself why her, why she got it.

Brace treatment for idiopathic scoliosis in growing children is an established non-surgical method for reducing the risk of scoliosis progression.1-6 Based upon current evidence it is the opinion of the Scoliosis Research Society that bracing reduces the incidence of surgery for scoliosis.

Studies of bracing efficacy have demonstrated that patients who do not wear braces are 3-4 times more likely to require spinal fusion surgery than similar groups of braced patients.2,3 Third party payers should note that bracing for scoliosis is used for prevention of progressive, disabling deformity. Bracing is frequently a medically necessary component of the treatment of scoliosis. Spinal orthoses for scoliosis should not be considered “durable medical equipment” similar to wheelchairs, handrails, hospital beds and other items that may assist in the performance of normal activities of daily living. Third party payers should recognize that bracing for scoliosis is cost effective since it can reduce the need for expensive surgical intervention.
